In this sermon on Romans 8:26-27, Spurgeon shows us how the Holy Spirit helps us in our prayers. The Holy Spirit inspires prayer in us from our inmost soul. These prayers are sometimes deeper than can be expressed in words. "All the prayers which the Spirit of God inspires in us must succeed, because...there is a meaning in them which God reads and approves." These prayers are according to the will of God and will be answered!

Book Short Summary:

How is prayer possible? How does prayer work? Why is it necessary to ask for God's gifts? Intercessory Prayer attempts to provide answers to questions about the nature of intercessory prayer. Critically examining biblical teaching and modern theological and philosophical thinking, this book shows how intercessory prayer may be seen as one of the means by which God enlists the freely-given cooperation of human persons in the realisation of the divine purpose. Clements-Jewery adopts a process view of the universe to show how intercession both makes certain possibilities greater and strengthens the likelihood of response, so that people who pray may have every confidence that their prayers will make a difference to the world through the God who both influences and is influenced by the creation.

Book Short Summary:

Pray Without Ceasing. - Who can do this? How can one do it who is surrounded by the cares of daily life? How can a mother love her child without ceasing? How can the eyelid without ceasing hold itself ready to protect the eye? How can I breathe and feel and hear without ceasing? Because all these are the functions of a healthy, natural life. And so, if the spiritual life be healthy, under the full power of the Holy Spirit, praying without ceasing will be natural. Pray Without Ceasing. - Does it refer to continual acts of prayer, in which we are to persevere till we obtain, or to the spirit of prayerfulness that should animate us all the day? It includes both. The example of our Lord Jesus shows us this. We have to enter our closet for special seasons of prayer; we are at times to persevere there in importunate prayer. We are also all the day to walk in God's presence, with the whole heart set upon heavenly things. Without set times of prayer, the spirit of prayer will be dull and feeble. Without the continual prayerfulness, the set times will not avail. Pray Without Ceasing. - Does that refer to prayer for ourselves or others? To both. It is because many confine it to themselves that they fail so in practicing it. It is only when the branch gives itself to bear fruit, more fruit, much fruit, that it can live a healthy life, and expect a rich inflow of sap. The death of Christ brought Him to the place of everlasting intercession. Your death with Him to sin and self sets you free from the care of self, and elevates you to the dignity of intercessor - one who can get life and blessing from God for others. Know your calling; begin this your work. Give yourself wholly to it, and before you know it you will be finding something of this "Praying always" within you.

Few can put it together like him in concept and application. Book Short Summary:

Booklets in this first series: On which days was Christ crucified and resurrected? Can we know the year of Christ's crucifixion? Does the Bible’s Creation account accord with scientific discovery? Was Christ crucified on a cross? Why should families symbolise the church and kingdom of God? Who should take the bread and wine, and when? Can we be born again during this earthly life? What annual festivals should Christians celebrate? Is there a Holy Spirit God-person? What is the true gospel? When does the law end for a Christian? Should Christians celebrate a weekly Sabbath? Each booklet in this series focuses on one theme that is also covered more briefly in the 350-page book “Israel and the Covenants in New Testament Times”. Each study's conclusions come from what the Bible reveals consistently, answering all the objections the writer has heard, to leave nothing even apparently contradicted by any other Bible text. By this means they confirm that the booklet provides rock-solid Bible truth and that the Bible is truly the word of God. Despite this, as the booklets' series title suggests, these conclusions are typically unexpected – a primary aim in writing and sharing them. If you find anything unpalatable, please recognise that God is the real author of what these booklets show and the author little more than a researcher and collator of the subject matter. Therefore, if you the reader cannot refute what a booklet in this series asserts directly from the Bible (surely nobody can), please give God your thanks and praise for allowing you to come to the truth from Him. Book Short Summary:

Samuel Rees Howells, A Life of Intercession: The Legacy of Prayer and Spiritual Warfare of an Intercessor by Richard A. Maton, Paul Backholer and Mathew Backholer Rees Howells, a powerful intercessor, taught his son Samuel the principles of intercession and commissioned him some weeks before his death, stating, “Whatever you do, stand and maintain these intercessions.” For the next fifty-four years, Samuel Rees Howells exercised a powerful intercessory ministry as he focused prayer on gospel liberty, in order for the good news of the Gospel of Jesus Christ to be given to every creature. With the mantle of intercession weighing heavily upon him, Samuel spent decades participating with others in their own countries, in profound spiritual struggles that shook world events and shaped history for God’s glory! Discover how Samuel was led by the Holy Spirit to exercise authority over the principalities and powers, and to ‘pray through’ until God’s purposes were fulfilled in many lethal world conflicts. Learn how God still intervenes in world history, from the Korean War to the Cuban Missile Crisis, and from the Six-Day War to the fall of the Soviet Union! Beginning in the days of Rees Howells, this book continues this powerful story of intercession and traces its effectual legacy into the twenty-first century. Filled with principles of intercession, faith and spiritual warfare, this book provides a fascinating insight into what is possible when the Holy Spirit finds an individual, who will stand in the gap and become a channel for His intercession. Ezekiel 22:30, Romans 8:26-27, Ephesians 6:12. Richard A. Maton worked under Samuel’s ministry for forty-seven years and provides us with an eyewitness account of Samuel’s life of intercession. Richard is married to Kristine who joined Rees Howells’ Bible College in 1936 and prayed alongside him. Together Richard and Kristine spent more than 120 years at the College!

Book Short Summary:

You Can Be an Intercessor To intercede is to truly pray with power. How do you know God is not calling you to be an intercessor? As you read this book with its study of the great intercessors in the Bible - from Abraham and Moses to Daniel and Nehemiah to Paul and Epaphras to Jesus himself - you will never be the same again. You will catch a new glimpse of the importance of intercession. You will see the great need for intercessors and understand if God is calling you to be one. Above all, with all the Biblical models presented, you will be challenged to join this godly company. "The challenge is disturbing as the reader realizes how short of the mark is even the most spiritual of Christians," writes Dr. Lester Sumrall in his Foreword. "Dr. Fomum practices what he teaches, as do some churches in Cameroon. Who of us prays for several hours each day? Who among us fasts and prays in spiritual warfare for From 21 to 40 days at a time, several times per year? This book is MUST reading for the serious Christian."

Book Short Summary:

From Romans to the seven epistles in the book of Revelation, the life-giving Spirit, spoken of in 1 Corinthians 15:45, is the general subject of all the New Testament Epistles. In the Gospels the Lord Jesus is presented as the Word who became flesh, while in the Epistles He is presented as the One who became the life-giving Spirit in resurrection for us to receive, experience, and enjoy. In The Spirit in the Epistles Witness Lee speaks of the believers being one spirit with the Lord, that is, of the mingling of the divine Spirit with our regenerated human spirit. Since the Spirit is the essence of the revelation in the Epistles, Witness Lee also emphasizes our practical need to take Christ as life by turning to the indwelling Spirit, by setting our mind on the spirit, and by living and walking in the spirit that we may live in the Lord, who is the Spirit.

Book Short Summary:

ROMANS BIBLE COMMENTARY After nearly 40 years of full-time ministry, Brother Swaggart published his first commentary on the book of Genesis that was later described as “the most helpful Bible commentary ever published.” It would take nearly 20 years to complete the entire commentary series—from Genesis to Revelation. True to Pentecostal theology, the Jimmy Swaggart Commentary collection leads its readers chapter by chapter to a better understanding of the Bible. Rather than providing notes on every Bible verse, these commentaries focus on the salient verses of each chapter to offer the reader a condensed synopsis of what the Holy Spirit intended. Where most relevant, cultural and historical references are also included, along with explanations of the allegories, types, and symbolisms used in the Bible to add depth and dimension for students of the Holy Scriptures. Yet, what seems to separate this work from all other commentaries are the biblical applications made to present day circumstances facing every believer. Printed on high-quality paper and bound with a beautiful hardback cover, this unique reference will be cherished by anyone who loves to study the Word of God.

In the Old Testament, we see God at work, creating the heavens and the earth, and we hear Him speaking promises to patriarchs and warnings through prophets. In the New Testament, we see Christ about His Father’s business—preaching, teaching, healing, and casting out demons. But the question that puzzles most believers is, what exactly does the Holy Spirit do? How does He work? In this anointed book, Evangelist Jimmy Swaggart answers these questions and much more through a powerful teaching that reveals how the Holy Spirit operates in the heart and life of the believer when his faith is properly placed in Christ Jesus.

Book Short Summary:

All thirty-two of the original volumes are included in this one volume. There are two linked indexes in this volume, a main index at the front of this volume that will take you to the beginning each of the books of the bible and another index at the beginning of each book there is a linked scripture index leading to the particular subject. MacLaren’s Expositions of Holy Scripture is considered one of the greatest expositor’s commentary of all time. This commentary has more than 1,500 sermons arranged in canonical order with more than 46,000 scriptural references, making this collection one of the fullest expositor’s commentary ever. For his work MacLaren drew praise from many. A. T. Robertson Said of MacLaren “His matchless discourses are the fruit of the most exact scholarship and spiritual enthusiasm.” F. B. Meyer said “As an expository preacher none of them equaled MacLaren of Manchester, and no other sermons were so widely read the world around.” MacLaren was born in Glasgow on February 11, 1826, and died in Manchester on May 5, 1910. He had been for almost sixty-five years a minister, entirely devoted to his calling. He lived more than almost any of the great preachers of his time between his study, his pulpit, his pen. His ministry fell into a quiet routine for which he was always grateful: two sermons on Sunday, a Monday prayer meeting and a Thursday service and lecture. His parishioners thought his sermons to them were the best he ever preached. In April 1858 he was called to be minister at Union Chapel in Manchester. No ministry could have been happier. The church prospered and a new building had to be erected to seat 1,500; every sitting was taken. His renown as preacher spread throughout the English-speaking world. His pulpit became his throne. He was twice elected President of the Baptist Union. He resigned as pastor in 1905 after a ministry of forty-five years. MacLaren’s religious life was hid with Christ in God. He walked with God day by day. He loved Jesus Christ with a reverent, holy love and lived to make Him known. In his farewell sermon at Union he said: "To efface oneself is one of a preacher’s first duties."

Book Short Summary:

Intercessors have been used by God to change history. Once again, God is raising up an army of intercessors to work with Him to accomplish His will on the earth. However, many intercessors live lives unnoticed and unknown by those who benefit from their work for the Lord. Many often feel alone, strange, and separated because of how they are led to pray and what they experience in their lives. This book is intended to help intercessor understand who they are and to walk more confidently in the calling that the Lord has given them. It is also a guide for those who have felt the Lord calling them into intercession to train them up in how to walk out this amazing life of serving the Lord of the all. Drawing on personal experience, interaction with many intercessors, and study of the lives of intercessors and scripture, this book gives an understanding of prayer, intercession, what the intercessor can expect to experience, and how the Lord has called us to live. Each chapter provides biblical instruction along with practical thought-provoking exercises for journaling your walk and life with the Lord in intercession.
