Book Short Summary:

Find hope that lasts beyond earthly pain and spiritual encouragement to lead you into a deep relationship with the Healer himself. Our hearts, our bodies, and our world are desperate for healing. Whether we are experiencing physical, emotional, or financial brokenness, we rightfully look to Jesus to perform a masterful restoration. But how does healing fit into God's will, especially when God doesn't heal? And how do we catch ourselves from slipping into the trap of seeking God for what he can do for us, and not for who he really is? Author, pastor, and frequently sought speaker Costi Hinn provides clarity through thoughtful answers and biblical truths about Jesus and his healing ministry. Growing up immersed in one of the world's leading faith-healing dynasties, Costi witnessed the tragedy of people chasing after healing more than the Healer. And now he shares with others the true power and hope that comes from a genuine relationship with God. With captivating stories--beginning with the vivid memory of the night he discovered his son's cancer diagnosis--Costi empathetically unpacks the layered feelings and questions we have about God and his healing power and provides practical principles for growing close to Jesus. With gentle clarity and biblical wisdom, Costi explains how to pray for healing while submitting to God's sovereignty, navigate tough conversations about the topic, and hold on to faith even in the most painful trials. More than chasing after the Jesus we want, this hopeful and encouraging book will guide us to discovering the Jesus we truly need.

Book Short Summary:

A Philadelphia Apologetic, Volume Three begins a closer look at New Testament texts than undertaken in Volumes One and Two. It begins a discussion of the bifurcation of truth, the negation of what has been concealed. It continues the several volume long argument for the truth being revelation that comes through realization via the indwelling of Christ. And it introduces the case that for the Elect, miracles are outwardly appearing non-events where things “just sort of work out” without calling attention to themselves. Thus, those things that occur in the Book of Acts, especially what happens to Paul, are anti-miracles, fictions originating as stock motifs in Sophist novels. Acts is an early Greek novel, not a factual history of the early Christian Church. Volume Three compares the theology of Paul, Peter, and James as recorded in their epistles with the theology of Paul, Peter, and James in Acts—and in each comparison, the author of Acts discloses that he or she doesn’t understand God or the Jesus Movement in the same way that Paul, Peter, and James of their epistles understood God and what is expected of disciples. Volume Three introduces the concept that in doubled voiced discourse there is factual truth (what is true for an event driven timeline) as well as literary truth in the “space” above a horizontal timeline, with literary truth making no claim for historicity. This bifurcation of the space-time trope is the domain of the novelist, where an exhaustive presentation of seemingly true data smothers unbelief, thereby permitting the suspension of disbelief to continue and the reader to temporarily believe what isn’t true without challenging either the historicity or believability of events. What is literarily “true” becomes the truth as seen in the acceptance of Acts as valid history by greater Christendom.

Book Short Summary:

"Ask anyone what they love most about Winzer, and they seem always to tell you it's the people, the family and friends webbed around each of us. True. But for me the town is also, and perhaps mainly, the larger-than-life characters who ghost around in my imagination and my memory: rumrunners and prize fighters and elegant old ladies and one-eyed thugs and earnest well-meaning politicians and hucksters and hookers and crusty old editors. Many of them I remember meeting. Some of them I actually met." —from The River The River is Paul Vasey’s tribute to a place he discovered by accident and loved over a lifetime. Chatty, anecdotal, personal and passionate, by one of Windsor’s most celebrated reporters and radio hosts, this meandering memoir winds its way around a river town whose sights and characters may never be fully charted: a Windsor that fired a reporter’s imagination, stole his heart, and eventually became the place he calls home.

Book Short Summary:

I, Sniper Recruited by the FBI to examine the data, retired Marine sharpshooter Bob Lee Swagger penetrates the new technology of the secretive sniper world to unravel a sophisticated conspiracy run by his most ruthless adversary yet—a marksman whose keen intellect and pinpoint accuracy rival his own. But when the enemy and his deadly henchmen mistake Bob for the hunted, it’s clear that some situations call for a good man with a gun . . . and the guts to use it. Night of Thunder Woe unto he who crosses Bob Lee Swagger, especially when his daughter's life is at stake. Forced off the road and into a crash that leaves her in a coma, clinging to life, reporter Nikki Swagger had begun to peel back the onion of a Southernfried conspiracy bubbling with all the angst, resentment, and dysfunction that Dixie gangsters can muster. An ancient, violent crime clan, a possibly corrupt law enforcement structure, gunmen of all stripes and shapes, and deranged evangelicals rear their ugly heads and will live to rue the day they targeted the wrong man's daughter. It's what you call your big-time bad career move. All of it is set against the backdrop of excitement and insanity that only a weeklong NASCAR event can bring to the backwoods of a town as seemingly sleepy as Bristol, Tennessee. 47th Samurai Bob Lee Swagger and Philip Yano are bound together by a single moment at Iwo Jima, 1945, when their fathers, two brave fighters on opposite sides, met in the bloody and chaotic battle for the island. Only Earl Swagger survived. More than sixty years later, Yano comes to America to honor the legacy of his heroic father by recovering the sword he used in the battle. Bob Lee finds the sword and delivers it to Yano in Tokyo. On inspection, they discover that it is not a standard WWII blade, but a legendary shin-shinto katana, an artifact of the nation. It is priceless but worth killing for. Suddenly Bob is at the center of a series of terrible crimes he barely understands but vows to avenge…

Ranger Sam Burrack has never had a partner before, but Hadley Jones has more than proven his mettle, and Burrack can tell they’re cut from the same cloth. But two lawmen might not be enough to stop Lonzo Greer and his Black Moon gang as they blaze a bloody trail of murder and destruction across Arizona Territory. Even worse, the cutthroats have a personal vendetta against the rangers for killing one of their own. If the straight-shooting peace officers aren’t careful, they might end up as vulture bait under the hot desert sun.

It is precisely 3:00 a.m. Detective Toni Rome’s cell chirps, waking her from a recurring nightmare. “I’ve been bad again, Detective,” the voice on the other end tells her. It is the voice of the Rosary Reaper, christened so by Toronto’s media and members of the force. At each crime scene, a black rosary is found around the throats of his victims. It is the fourth call she has received in the past month, and as always, a brutalized body waits to be discovered. No trace and no clues other than the early hour whispers and the bloody taunts Catch me, carved into the victim’s torsos. With a grandmother deep in the clutches of dementia to care for and a reawakened passion for the man who has just moved in next door, Toni and her partner Detective Sid Tillman find themselves pitted against a ruthless killer. A mind gone wrong. A vendetta long overdue. * You, my darlings, are my confidants, my audience, spying while I exact my vengeance. Together we will wait in the woods, scheming, planning. Our hands are treacherous, glorious, guilty weapons. And so the vine ripens. Each of its sacrosanct thorns exacting another prick of blood owed. I am a master of disguise. I am wealthy beyond your imagination. I am thirty-four and will not celebrate my thirty-fifth birthday. My name is Nathan. I am a killer.

But when Detective Barudi sets out to interrogate the man’s mysterious widow, the Secret Service takes the case away from him. Barudi continues to investigate clandestinely and discovers the murderer’s motive: it is a blood feud between the Mushtak and Shahin clans, reaching back to the beginnings of the 20th century. And, linked to it, a love story that can have no happy ending, for reconciliation has no place within the old tribal structures. Rafik Schami dazzling novel spans a century of Syrian history in which politics and religions continue to torment an entire people. Book Short Summary:

Ireland, home of legendary poets and storytellers, has been wracked by bloody sectarian violence over the last quarter century. Bombs and guns were, and once again are, the primary negotiation tools used by Catholic and Protestant extremists in the conflict surrounding the sovereignty of Northern Ireland—the six counties known as Ulster. Patrick Taylor's Only Wounded centers on the hopes and despairs of everyday life during The Troubles. New York Times bestselling author Patrick Taylor traces an intricate narrative path through Ulster, detailing sensitive, unbiased portraits of the ordinary—and not so ordinary—people caught in the partisan brutality of Northern Ireland.
